Measuring Up

As part of my archaeology A2 course in the coming academic year, there is a compulsory project, which has to be archaeology related (but not involve digging anything up). My choice was a standing building survey. This entails visiting a site of archaeological importance, taking photos and measurements of the remains and writing a 3000 - 4000 word report on the site. I have decided to do Wressle Castle, of which only a quarter of the original building remains and it is not open to the general public, as it is on the site of a working farm. Tomorrow is the measuring part of the survey, for which I need the assistance of another member of the class (holding the other end of the tape). If the rain keeps off, a couple of hours should see the main part of the on site work completed. Just need to write the report then!
